Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park

Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park

The Flushing Meadows Corona Park Stewardship Team’s Gov Ball Gives Back project focus on the surroundings of the park’s Flushing Creek Canal, under the Van Wyck overpass. Volunteers will play a key role in protecting the watershed of New York City’s largest fishable freshwater body, Meadow Lake. Stewardship activities include litter collection, weeding, pruning, and species management.

The Outreach Volunteer role involves engaging with community members at events to share information about Commonpoint Queens' resources and promote health literacy. The ESOL Conversational & Job Readiness Volunteer supports English learners through practice sessions and mock interviews to help build their communication skills and job search confidence.

Chhaya CDC

Volunteers will be helping conduct outreach for Chhaya CDC in Elmhurst and Richmond Hill, Queens. Volunteers will play a key role in on the ground outreach for upcoming Chhaya events in the spring and summer by engaging with community members, small businesses, and community groups in Queens neighborhoods that we organize and provide direct services in. NOTE: Chhaya CDC is looking for volunteers who speak Bangla, Nepali, Tibetan, Hindi or Urdu.
